Bail application of Zubeen Garg’s former manager to be reassigned to another bench after Gauhati High Court judge steps aside from proceedings
Guwahati: The bail hearing of Siddharth Sharma, a key accused in the alleged Zubeen Garg death case, has been delayed after a Gauhati High Court judge recused himself from the matter on Wednesday.
Sharma, who previously served as the celebrated Assamese singer’s manager, had moved the High Court after a fast-track court rejected his bail application, citing the gravity of the allegations and the ongoing trial. The plea was listed before Justice Parthivjyoti Saikia, who chose not to hear the case. Consequently, the matter will now be placed before another bench for consideration.
The development comes amid a series of setbacks for individuals linked to the case. Recently, the Gauhati High Court dismissed the bail petition of North East Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, another accused in the proceedings, allowing the trial process to move forward.
In a related matter, businessman Chetan Dhiracharia, considered a close associate of Sharma, also failed to secure relief from the High Court. His petition seeking permission to resume operations at Mahavir Aqua, a mineral water bottling unit, was not entertained and was subsequently dismissed.
The latest developments add another layer to the ongoing legal battle surrounding one of Assam’s most closely watched cases. With Sharma’s bail plea awaiting reassignment, attention now shifts to the next hearing and the progress of the trial.
