Tripura Assembly Reconvenes April 30: Crucial Bills Likely to be Passed

Speaker reconvenes House under Rule 19; focus set on crucial legislative business

Agartala: The Tripura Legislative Assembly will reconvene for a single-day sitting on April 30, with indications that a significant piece of legislation may be introduced and passed during the session.

The sitting forms part of the second phase of the 9th session of the 13th Assembly, which had earlier been adjourned indefinitely. Acting under Rule 19 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, Speaker Rampada Jamatia has called the House back into session to address pending legislative matters.

According to officials, the Assembly will meet at 11:00 am, with proceedings expected to remain focused and time-bound. While the government has not disclosed details of the proposed bill, sources indicated that the session has been convened primarily to facilitate its passage.

An official communication issued by Assembly Secretary A.K. Nath confirmed the development and outlined the schedule for the day. “The House has been reconvened for the second phase of the ongoing session,” the notification stated.

Meanwhile, the brief but strategic sitting is expected to play a key role in advancing the government’s legislative agenda. Given its limited duration, discussions are likely to be concise, with priority accorded to essential business.

As a result, all eyes will be on the Assembly proceedings on April 30, which could see the clearance of an important measure within a single sitting.
