State completes full digitisation of voter enumeration under the Special Intensive Revision, while claims and objections process remains open until August 4
Aizwal: Mizoram has become the first among the 16 states and two Union Territories undertaking the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls to achieve 100 per cent digitisation of the voter enumeration process, marking a significant milestone in the country’s electoral roll revision exercise.
The achievement was announced by Chief Electoral Officer Garima Gupta during a meeting with recognised political parties held at the I&PR Conference Hall in Aizawl after the completion of the enumeration phase and publication of the draft electoral roll.
Gupta credited the milestone to the coordinated efforts of political parties, election officials, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs), whose extensive fieldwork ensured the successful completion of the digitisation process across the state.
She informed that the revision exercise has now entered the claims and objections stage, during which eligible citizens can apply for the inclusion of their names, correction of personal details, transposition or deletion of entries in the electoral roll. The application window will remain open from July 4 to August 4.
Appealing to the public to verify their electoral details, Gupta said the ongoing phase is crucial to ensure that every eligible voter is enrolled while ineligible entries are removed. She also encouraged newly eligible voters and those requiring corrections to make use of the opportunity.
Representatives of recognised political parties expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the revision exercise and appreciated the efforts of BLOs and BLAs. Soft copies of the draft electoral roll were distributed during the meeting, which was also attended by Joint Chief Electoral Officer Ethel Rothangpuii and senior election officials.
