Assam CM Launches Orunodoi 3.0 for 37 Lakh Women: Rs 15,000 Interest-Free Advance Planned

The Chief Minister announced Aadhaar-based verification, constituency-level Orunodoi Sarathis and plans for interest-free advances under the flagship scheme

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Orunodoi 3.0, extending the flagship welfare scheme to over 37 lakh women while unveiling new measures aimed at financial empowerment.

Launching the scheme at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, the Chief Minister said beneficiaries would eventually be able to access up to Rs 15,000 interest-free in advance against future Orunodoi payments or avail bank loans backed by their monthly assistance. “We want to take Orunodoi to that level, where it becomes not just financial support but financial empowerment,” he said.

The new phase introduces Aadhaar-based verification to eliminate duplicate beneficiaries and ensure assistance reaches the intended recipients. The government will also deploy Orunodoi Sarathis in every Assembly constituency to assist with enrolment, Aadhaar linkage and grievance redressal.

The Chief Minister also announced Rs 2,500 as special assistance for Orunodoi beneficiaries in the flood-affected districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat and Jorhat, and thanked women who voluntarily contributed to flood relief.
