Students, activists and Congress leaders gather at Don Bosco Square in solidarity with Sonam Wangchuk and CJP, demanding accountability over alleged NEET paper leaks
Shillong: Students, activists and local residents gathered at Don Bosco Square in Shillong on Sunday to express solidarity with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and activist Sonam Wangchuk, while demanding the resignations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
Protesters raised anti-government slogans and carried placards reading, “Our dreams are not for sale,” “Justice for students who died due to paper leaks,” and “We stand with Jantar Mantar.”
“India deserves a government that champions its students,” a student protester said, alleging that the country’s education system had failed young aspirants.
Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Manuel Badwar, who joined the demonstration, said the protest reflected growing frustration among students whose careers were being affected by repeated examination controversies.
Thma U Rangli-Juki leader Angela Rangad said the issue extended beyond the alleged NEET paper leak, claiming students were facing rising privatisation, expensive education and declining quality. She also criticised remarks describing students as “cockroaches,” calling them disrespectful.
