Assam Chief Minister says demonstrations will not distract the government from its focus on public welfare amid Opposition stir against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, October 10, dismissed the Opposition’s protest in Delhi as an expression of frustration, asserting that the demonstrations would not affect the government’s focus on public welfare.
Speaking in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, the Chief Mionister said the government would continue its work despite protests by Opposition parties. “When the Opposition is frustrated, they stage such spectacles. It makes no difference. Keep working for the people, and the people will continue to bless you,” he said.
His remarks came amid protests in the national capital against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with Opposition leaders mobilising over allegations concerning electoral processes.
The demonstrations prompted extensive traffic restrictions across parts of Delhi. The Delhi Traffic Police restricted the movement of trucks and other large commercial vehicles, including Delhi Transport Corporation buses, affecting key routes used by commuters across the National Capital Region.
The protest has also triggered heightened security measures in the capital, as political tensions continue over demands directed at the Chief Election Commissioner.
