Several Congress functionaries in Bheluguri-Dipholu Panchayat reportedly resign, alleging neglect and misbehaviour by MP Rakibul Hussain
Nagaon: The Congress organisation in Samaguri has reportedly suffered a setback ahead of the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, with several local functionaries announcing their resignation from the party.
According to reports, the Mandal president and secretary of Bheluguri-Dipholu Panchayat, along with members of the party’s Booth Level Organisation (BLO) and booth committees, have stepped down.
The departing leaders and workers have reportedly alleged neglect and misbehaviour by Congress MP Rakibul Hussain, citing these grievances as among the reasons for their decision to leave the party.
The development comes at a crucial time for Congress, with the Nagaon bypoll expected to be a closely watched contest. The resignations could pose a challenge to the party’s grassroots organisation and election mobilisation efforts in Samaguri.
The allegations were made by the departing party workers and have not been independently verified. A response from Rakibul Hussain and the Congress leadership is awaited.
