The Chief Electoral Officer said over 23.49 lakh electors were covered during the Special Intensive Revision, with verification continuing for unmapped and ASDD entries
Guwahati: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Meghalaya, published the Draft Electoral Roll 2026 for all 60 Assembly constituencies, marking the start of the statutory claims and objections process under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Chief Electoral Officer B.D.R. Tiwari said the draft rolls have been prepared in accordance with the Election Commission of India’s schedule and are available at the offices of District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and all polling stations. Electors can file claims and objections from August 5 to September 4.
The CEO’s office said the Special Intensive Revision covered all 23,49,645 registered electors through a door-to-door verification and digitisation exercise.
According to the data, 7,75,665 electors (33.01%) were linked to their own records in the SIR 2005 database, while 11,70,792 (49.83%) were mapped using the electoral records of their parents or grandparents.
Another 2,22,786 electors (9.48%) fell under the ‘No Mapping’ category and will undergo detailed verification during the claims and objections period.
The revision also identified 1,80,402 electors (7.68%) under the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) categories, all of which will be verified before the final electoral roll is published.
