The house-to-house survey under the 2026 Special Intensive Revision has achieved 100% coverage, with verification of unlinked and ASDD cases set to begin before the draft electoral roll is published
Shillong: Meghalaya has completed the house-to-house enumeration phase of the 2026 Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, covering all 23,49,645 electors across the state, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.
According to the CEO’s office, 7,75,337 electors (33%) were mapped as Self, linking their records directly to the 2005 SIR database, while 11,69,670 (49.78%) were mapped as Progeny through their parents’ or grandparents’ records.
Another 2,24,234 electors (9.54%) were classified under the ‘No Mapping’ category and will undergo verification during the claims and objections period from August 5 to October 3.
The exercise also identified 1,80,404 electors (7.68%) under the Absent, Shifted, Deceased and Duplicate (ASDD) category, including 81,490 deceased, 42,532 shifted, 45,013 non-returned forms, 4,668 refusals, and 6,701 duplicate enrolments.
The CEO’s office credited political parties, Booth Level Agents, election officials, community leaders and citizens for ensuring 100% distribution and digitisation of enumeration forms. The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on August 5.
