Organisation announces May 30 protests across India, alleging targeted attacks on the Kuki-Zo community and illegal detention of civilians amid ongoing ethnic tensions

Imphal: Kuki Inpi Manipur has announced a nationwide protest rally on May 30 following the killing of three Kuki-Zo church leaders and the alleged detention of Kuki-Zo civilians amid continuing unrest in Manipur.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the organisation said demonstrations would be organised across different parts of the country to demand justice and highlight what it termed the “targeted victimisation” of the Kuki-Zo community.
KIM alleged that authorities have failed to identify and arrest those responsible for the deaths of Rev. V. Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun and Pastor Paogoulen, whose killings recently triggered widespread outrage within the community.
The organisation also raised concerns over the alleged detention of 14 Kuki-Zo civilians in Senapati district by Naga civil society groups. It described the detention as illegal and said it violated constitutional rights and the rule of law.
According to KIM, all rallies will be held under a common theme and banner to demonstrate solidarity among Kuki-Zo communities nationwide.
The organisation appealed to student unions, churches, women’s groups, youth organisations and community leaders to ensure peaceful and democratic participation during the protests.
“The community must remain united in seeking justice and protecting its dignity and rights,” the statement said.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in Manipur following recent incidents involving killings, alleged abductions and ethnic violence that continue to affect several districts in the state.
