Order reserved earlier in case linked to complaint by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife

Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court will pronounce its decision on the anticipatory bail plea of senior Congress leader Pawan Khera on Friday, with the order scheduled for 10:30 AM.
The matter is being heard by a bench led by Justice Parthiv Jyoti Saikia, which had earlier reserved its verdict after concluding arguments from all sides on April 21. The case has since attracted considerable attention due to its political sensitivity.
Khera moved the High Court seeking protection from arrest in connection with a complaint filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The case was registered with the Crime Branch of the Guwahati Police.
The complaint followed remarks made by Khera during a press conference, where he alleged that Sharma possessed multiple passports and owned properties abroad. Rejecting these claims as “baseless,” Sharma filed a formal complaint, leading to the current proceedings.
With the verdict scheduled for Friday, the outcome is likely to be closely watched given the high-profile nature of the case and its wider political context.
