Double-layer frisking, CCTV surveillance, signal jammers and prohibitory orders form part of the state’s extensive measures to ensure a malpractice-free examination

Guwahati: With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination just days away, the Assam government has put in place an extensive security framework aimed at ensuring a fair and transparent conduct of the test on June 21.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed preparations through a video conference with district officials and reiterated the state’s “zero tolerance” approach towards examination malpractice. A total of 43,319 candidates will sit for the examination at 87 centres spread across 17 districts.
To prevent irregularities, candidates will undergo double-layer frisking, while all examination centres will be equipped with CCTV surveillance, biometric verification systems and mobile signal jammers. District authorities have also been directed to conduct technical checks and trial runs of all security equipment before the examination.
The government has ordered the enforcement of prohibitory measures within a 100-metre radius of examination venues. In Guwahati, restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 will remain in force around all 15 NEET centres on exam day.
Question papers will remain under strict security, with access to storage facilities tightly regulated and supervised by senior police officers. To ease travel concerns, candidates will be allowed to travel free on ASTC buses upon producing valid admit cards.
Officials said coordinated efforts by the education, police and transport departments are intended to ensure the examination is conducted with the highest standards of integrity and transparency.
