The new initiative will automatically convert major cyber financial crime complaints registered through NCRP or the 1930 helpline into FIRs, enabling faster investigation and recovery

Guwahati: Assam has officially rolled out the e-Zero FIR initiative, a new mechanism aimed at strengthening the state’s response to cyber financial crimes by enabling the automatic registration of FIRs in eligible cases.
Announcing the development on Monday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Cyber Secure Bharat” and will help ensure quicker action against cyber fraudsters.
“Assam has today officially rolled out the e-Zero FIR initiative, a system which will automatically convert cyber financial crimes lodged at NCRP or 1930 to FIRs,” the Chief Minister said in a post on social media.
According to the Chief Minister, Assam is among the first states in the country to implement the system. The initiative enables jurisdiction-free registration of FIRs for cyber-crimes, allowing complaints to be acted upon without procedural delays related to location.
The government said the system is expected to improve the speed of investigations and enhance the chances of recovering money lost in cyber fraud cases.
Under the new framework, cyber financial crimes involving amounts above Rs 10 lakh will be automatically converted into Zero FIRs, enabling police to initiate prompt action regardless of jurisdiction.
The Chief Minister credited Union Home Minister Amit Shah for guiding the initiative and acknowledged the efforts of Assam Police in implementing the system.
“Now, your hard-earned money will not go in vain with this prompt system,” the Chief Minister said, expressing confidence that the initiative would strengthen protection against cyber financial crimes.
