Four districts remain affected, with over 30,000 people and 6,135 hectares of crop area still impacted
Guwahati: The flood situation in Assam has shown gradual improvement over the past week, with a decline in the number of affected people, inundated villages and crop areas, according to the latest assessment.
However, the River Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat district continued to flow at a severe flood level at 9 pm on Tuesday, indicating that flood risks persist in some areas.
The latest flood report stated that Morigaon, Sivasagar, Biswanath and Nagaon remain affected. Around 30,601 people across 137 villages are currently impacted by the floods.
The affected revenue circles include Gohpur and Halem in Biswanath; Mikirbheta in Morigaon; Samaguri, Rupahi and Nagaon in Nagaon; and Amguri, Sivasagar and Nazira in Sivasagar.
Floodwaters have also affected 6,135.713 hectares of crop area. However, the extent of crop damage has declined from the previous week, pointing to an overall improvement.
The flood-related death toll remained unchanged, with no fresh fatalities reported in the latest assessment.
