92-year-old legend under treatment at Breach Candy Hospital; family urges privacy

Mumbai: Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle has been admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai after experiencing health complications, her family confirmed on Saturday.

The 92-year-old singer is currently undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital. While initial reports suggested serious concerns, including cardiac issues, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle clarified that the hospitalisation was due to a chest infection coupled with fatigue.

In a public statement, Zanai said the singer had been admitted following “extreme exhaustion” and requested privacy as treatment continues. She added that the family remains hopeful of a positive recovery.

Asha Bhosle, whose career spans more than eight decades, remains one of India’s most celebrated voices. Known for her remarkable versatility, she has rendered thousands of songs across genres, from classical-based melodies and ghazals to upbeat film tracks.
