Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu announces a Rs 7,834 crore investment programme for infrastructure development between 2026 and 2029

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on August 15 announced a Rs 7,834 crore investment programme for the 2026-29 period, with roads, rural connectivity and other key infrastructure among the priority areas.
Khandu made the announcement while addressing the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Indira Gandhi Park, where he hoisted the national flag and outlined the need for infrastructure capable of withstanding future disasters.
Referring to the recent floods and landslides, the Chief Minister said the government would work towards providing communities with safer, stronger and more disaster-resilient infrastructure.
Khandu also remembered those who lost their lives in recent disasters in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Nagaland and expressed condolences to their families. He praised local residents, district administrations, security personnel, disaster response teams, healthcare workers and volunteers for their efforts during the crisis.
Emphasising the importance of peace for long-term development, Khandu said the government would continue working to create stronger opportunities within the state. He also urged people to use technology responsibly and cautioned against being misled or influenced by digital platforms.
Calling for responsible use of freedom, Khandu urged citizens to contribute towards building a stronger, peaceful and united Arunachal Pradesh.
