Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh has commissioned the 132 kV Miao-Namsai transmission line, marking a major step towards strengthening the state’s electricity infrastructure and improving power supply in Changlang district and adjoining areas.
Announcing the development on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the project reflects the government’s commitment to building a stronger, more reliable and future-ready power network. The 41-km transmission line connects Miao and Namsai and is expected to ensure a more stable electricity supply for households, businesses and public institutions.
Implemented under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission and Distribution System (CSST&DS), the project aims to modernise Arunachal Pradesh’s power infrastructure, reduce transmission losses and enhance the efficiency of electricity distribution.
Mein said reliable power infrastructure is essential for accelerating socio-economic development, improving public services and enhancing the quality of life, particularly in remote and border regions.
Officials said the new transmission line will strengthen the power grid in eastern Arunachal Pradesh by improving transmission capacity, increasing system reliability and facilitating the integration of future power projects. It is also expected to support industrial growth and meet the state’s rising energy demand.
The state government said continued investment in power infrastructure remains a priority as Arunachal Pradesh works towards ensuring long-term energy security and sustainable economic development.
