Are Alliance Cracks Emerging in Tripura After TTAADC Results?

Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman alleges misinformation within BJP ranks; calls for introspection and restraint amid post-poll tensions.

Agartala: In the aftermath of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election results, fresh strains appear to be surfacing within Tripura’s ruling alliance. On Saturday, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman claimed that certain BJP leaders with Left backgrounds had “misguided” Chief Minister Manik Saha, thereby fuelling misunderstandings between coalition partners.

Addressing reporters, Debbarman said the alliance should function on mutual trust rather than internal rivalry. “If we are partners, there is no logic in weakening each other. People are aware of who stands for them,” he remarked. At the same time, he urged the Chief Minister to “closely monitor” a few individuals he believes are creating friction within the BJP.

However, Debbarman downplayed speculation around legal action against Tipra Motha leaders, suggesting such remarks were not an official party stance. “No one can capture power through force. These appear to be personal opinions,” he noted.

Meanwhile, he refrained from publicly commenting on the relatively muted role of Minister Animesh Debbarma during the campaign, stating that internal discussions would be handled privately.

Following a courtesy meeting at the Raj Bhavan, Debbarman added that the Governor would complete formalities for constituting the new council. Importantly, he also expressed concern over post-poll violence, calling it “unfortunate,” while acknowledging ongoing coordination with senior police officials.

In conclusion, even as political tensions linger, Debbarman appealed for restraint, urging party workers to avoid confrontation and focus on governance.
