Independent candidate Jiten Gaur trails with 29,109 votes; Mahanta ahead by 15,909 as counting continues

Kaliabor: Keshab Mahanta of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has taken a strong lead in the Kaliabor constituency after the tenth round of vote counting, reinforcing his position as the frontrunner in the contest.
According to official figures, Mahanta has secured 45,018 votes so far. In comparison, Independent candidate Jiten Gaur has polled 29,109 votes. This places Mahanta ahead by a margin of 15,909 votes at this stage of counting.
The steady gap between the two candidates highlights a clear trend emerging in favour of the AGP leader. However, election authorities have cautioned that several rounds of counting are still pending, and the final outcome will only be confirmed after all votes are tallied.
As the counting process continues, candidates, party workers and observers remain closely engaged, tracking each round for any shifts in momentum. While Mahanta’s lead appears significant after ten rounds, the remaining rounds will be crucial in determining whether he can maintain or extend this advantage.
Officials reiterated that trends at this stage are indicative but not conclusive. Therefore, attention now turns to the upcoming rounds, which will ultimately decide the result in the Kaliabor seat.
