West Tripura SP to lead the Special Investigation Team, with daily review meetings and weekly reports mandated to ensure a thorough and impartial probe
Agartala: The Tripura Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the death of former Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar, who was found dead inside the washroom of his official chamber at the State Police Headquarters in Agartala on July 20.
The SIT has been formed by West Tripura Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, who will head the investigation. The probe is being conducted in connection with West Agartala Police Station U.D. Case No. 2026WAG045, registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The investigation team comprises senior police officers, including Additional SPs Dhruba Nath and Souvik De, DSP Benjam Dewan, three inspectors and three sub-inspectors.
According to the official order, the SIT will hold daily review meetings at 11.30 am and 7.30 pm, with members required to submit daily progress reports and weekly consolidated reports to the Inspector General of Police (Law and Order). The order directs the team to conduct a professional, impartial and confidential investigation, warning that any deviation from the prescribed procedures will be viewed seriously.
