Security forces recovered AK-47, grenades and mortar bomb during operation in Maovom village

Imphal: In a significant crackdown, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from Maovom village and nearby areas under Churachandpur Police Station in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on April 28, 2026.
According to officials, the operation led to the seizure of multiple weapons, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms circulation in the region. The recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, three single-barreled guns, and a pistol, along with its magazine.
In addition, forces recovered one pompi, two 35 mm grenades, and one 81 mm mortar bomb from the site. Officials said the recovery indicates the presence of potentially dangerous stockpiles in the area.
Authorities have launched further investigations to trace the origin of the weapons and identify those involved. Meanwhile, security has been intensified in and around the region to prevent any untoward incidents.
