The Chief Minister offer prayers at Rajasthan’s Khatu Shyam Temple, calls claims against his wife “false” and legally untenable

Jaipur: Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on April 11, expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) electoral prospects in Assam, projecting a decisive victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
After offering prayers at the Khatu Shyam Temple, the Chief Minister addressed the reporters that the BJP is likely to significantly improve its performance. “I expect the BJP to perform even better than before. Out of 126 seats, we may secure around 90 to 100 seats,” he said, indicating a clear majority for the party.
Expanding on the broader political landscape, he also expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in West Bengal, saying, “I have not personally visited Bengal, but based on the reports coming in, the BJP is likely to form the government there as well.”
While maintaining that the temple was not a place for political discussion, he briefly addressed the ongoing controversy involving Pawan Khera. “This is a temple, and I do not wish to engage in politics here,” he remarked, before rejecting the allegations as unfounded.
The Chief Minister further termed the claims regarding his wife’s alleged possession of multiple passports and offshore assets as “false” and “baseless,” asserting that such accusations were fabricated using “Photoshop and AI.” He further added that the matter would be handled strictly in accordance with the law.
The remarks come amid heightened political exchanges between the BJP and the Congress following the polling process. With voting completed across all 126 constituencies, the focus now shifts to May 4, when the counting of votes will determine whether the BJP secures a third consecutive term in Assam
