Zubeen Garg Case: Key Accused Siddhartha Sharma Moves Court for Bail

Fast-track court to hear on April 22, prosecution prepares to oppose as case progresses

Guwahati: The main accused, Siddhartha Sharma, involved in the alleged death case of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, has approached the fast-track court seeking bail. The application was filed on Monday before the court of Judge Sharmila Bhuyan, with a copy already served to the state prosecution.

The court is scheduled to take up Sharma’s plea on April 22. On the same day, the prosecution team, led by public prosecutor Ziaul Kumar, is expected to present its argument opposing the bail request. Notably, the prosecution has also pushed for framing of charges against the accused, signalling that the case is entering a crucial stage.

Earlier, co-accused Shyamkanu Mahanta had filed a similar bail application, which is also listed for hearing on April 22. The parallel development adds significance to the upcoming proceedings, as the court may address both pleas around the same time.

Meanwhile, the case continues to draw public attention, given its high-profile nature. As both sides prepare their arguments, the focus now shifts to the court’s decision on bail and the progression of charges.
