Tripura SIR Electoral Roll Revision to Begin September 5: Final List on December 23

The exercise will cover 28.97 lakh electors across 60 Assembly constituencies, with house-to-house verification scheduled from September 15

Agartala: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tripura will begin on September 5 as part of a nationwide exercise aimed at ensuring that only eligible voters remain enrolled, Chief Electoral Officer Brijesh Pandey said on Friday.

“The exercise is being carried out to ensure that only eligible electors are enrolled in the electoral rolls,” Pandey said, stressing the need for an accurate and updated voter list free of dead, duplicate, shifted and ineligible voters.

The qualifying date for the revision is October 1, 2026, while the final electoral roll will be published on December 23. Tripura currently has around 28.97 lakh electors across 60 Assembly constituencies and 3,356 polling stations.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house visits from September 15 to October 14 to distribute pre-filled enumeration forms and collect completed forms. Each household will be visited three times.

Clarifying the process, Pandey said, “During the house-to-house enumeration, no documents will be collected.” Supporting documents will only be sought if doubts arise after publication of the draft electoral roll. On Aadhaar, Pandey said, “Aadhaar is an identity proof but not proof of citizenship.”

Electors whose names appeared in the 2005 SIR roll, or whose parents’ names were included, will not need to submit supporting documents. “Only identity proof has to be provided,” he said. He further added that every elector must complete the enumeration form, even if they are away from home during the verification period.
