Pradyut Bordoloi Confident of BJP’s Third Term as Assam Trends Show Strong Leads

From Dispur to Jalukbari, constituency-wise margins and ministerial leads point to NDA momentum

Guwahati: As counting progresses across 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam, early trends indicate a strong showing for the BJP-led alliance. Speaking in Guwahati, Dispur candidate Pradyut Bordoloi expressed confidence in a third consecutive term for the party. “There is a clear pro-BJP sentiment across Assam… we are closely tracking feedback,” he said, adding that “patience is key in multi-cornered contests.”

In Dispur, Bordoloi is leading with 24,906 votes, while Congress candidate Mira Borthakur trails with 20,055 votes. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has built a commanding lead in Jalukbari, polling 31,056 votes against Congress’ 13,842.

Across constituencies, several ministers have established significant leads. In Bokakhat, AGP chief Atul Bora is ahead by over 3,000 votes, having secured 4,682 votes against 1,440. In Tihu, Chandra Mohan Patowary leads by 5,468 votes with 10,991 votes against Congress’ 5,523.

Further, Keshab Mahanta leads by over 8,800 votes, while Ajanta Neog is ahead in Golaghat by over 11,000 votes. In Jagiroad, Pijush Hazarika maintains a 16,000-vote lead, and in Dhemaji, Ranoj Pegu is ahead by over 15,000 votes.

In Nalbari, Jayanta Malla Baruah has polled 38,413 votes, leading by 18,967 votes over Congress’ 17,176. Meanwhile, Ashok Singhal leads in Dhekiajuli by 3,230 votes, and Ranjeet Kumar Dass is ahead in Bhowanipur-Sorbhog by 658 votes (19,444 vs 18,786).

However, not all trends favour the ruling bloc. Nandita Gorlosa is trailing by around 5,000 votes in Haflong against BJP’s Rupali Langthasa.

With 722 candidates, 40 counting centres, and counting underway since 8 am, the final outcome will depend on the remaining rounds as margins continue to evolve.
