Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with Norwegian leaders, attend the India-Nordic Summit, and push cooperation in trade, clean energy, AI and Arctic affairs

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Oslo on his first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in over four decades, as part of his ongoing five-nation Europe tour.
The Norway visit follows Modi’s high-level engagements in Sweden, where India and Sweden elevated bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership and unveiled a Joint Action Plan for 2026-2030.
During his visit to Oslo, Modi will meet Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, call on King Harald V and Queen Sonja, and attend the India-Norway Business and Research Summit. He will also participate in the 3rd India-Nordic Summit alongside leaders from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway.

Moreover, the Sweden leg of the tour produced six major outcomes. These included the elevation of ties to a Strategic Partnership, the launch of the India-Sweden Joint Innovation Partnership 2.0, and the proposed India-Sweden Technology and Artificial Intelligence Corridor focused on AI, 6G, quantum computing and digital innovation.
Both countries also agreed to double bilateral trade and investment within five years and announced a new SME and start-up platform aimed at boosting entrepreneurship and employment. In addition, cultural diplomacy featured prominently through the launch of the “Tagore-Sweden” lecture series and the exchange of handwritten Rabindranath Tagore epigrams preserved in Swedish archives.
Officials said Modi’s Norway visit will now focus on strengthening cooperation in clean energy, maritime sectors, Arctic affairs, innovation and investment across the Nordic region.
