The council has raised concerns over alleged shortages, security issues and NIA operations, while seeking clarity on its political demand
Imphal: The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has set October 10, 2026, as a deadline for the Centre to address what it describes as pressing administrative, humanitarian and security concerns affecting the Kuki-Zo community in Manipur. The council has warned of a “full-fledged agitation” if its demands are not addressed.
In a statement, the KZC alleged shortages of food and essential commodities in parts of Kangpokpi, Noney, Tamenglong and Kamjong, attributing the situation to an economic blockade imposed by the United Naga Council (UNC). It called for uninterrupted movement of essential supplies.
The council also accused the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of conducting what it described as “selective and disproportionate” operations in Kuki-Zo areas. The allegation has been made by the KZC and was not independently established in the reports reviewed.
The KZC further demanded the reimposition of President’s Rule in Manipur and sought accountability for alleged violence against Kuki-Zo civilians. It also called for a clear update on its political demand for a separate administration and concrete steps towards a political resolution.
The council has also said the remains of Kuki-Zo people it alleges were killed by Naga armed groups should not be buried until an “appropriate and acceptable resolution” is reached.
