Jaismine Lamboria rises to world No. 1 in 57kg, while Priya Ghanghas and Vishvanath Suresh enter the global top three as Indian boxers continue their surge across weight categories

New Delhi: India’s growing dominance in international boxing received fresh validation in the latest World Boxing Rankings, with the country strengthening its footprint across both men’s and women’s divisions.
Leading the charge was Jaismine Lamboria, who climbed to world No. 1 in the women’s 57kg category. Meanwhile, reigning Asian champions Priya Ghanghas and Vishvanath Suresh secured places among the world’s top three in their respective weight classes, highlighting India’s rising stature on the global stage.
The rankings reflect remarkable depth, with Indian boxers featuring in the Top 10 of nine out of 10 women’s categories and eight out of 10 men’s divisions. Minakshi retained the No. 1 spot in 48kg, while Preeti moved up to third. Arundhati Choudhary, Pooja Rani and Nupur were ranked world No. 2 in their categories. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain and former world champion Nikhat Zareen also remained among the elite.
In the men’s section, Sachin and Narender entered the global top five, while Hitesh Gulia maintained his sixth-place ranking. Several others, including Abhinash Jamwal, Akash and Lokesh, also secured Top-10 positions.
BFI president Ajay Singh credited the achievement to sustained investment in athlete development. “Today, almost every weight category features a strong Indian presence at the global level,” he said.
India currently ranks third globally in terms of Top-10 boxers and leads the world in women’s representation within the elite Top-3 bracket.
