Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday congratulated BJP candidate Devasish Sharma on his victory in the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, describing the result as a significant achievement for the party in a seat previously held by the Congress.
In a social media post, Assam CM credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity and the public’s trust in his vision of a Viksit Bharat for the victory. He thanked Nagaon’s voters and BJP workers for their efforts during the campaign, which was conducted under the guidance of party president Nitin Nabin. He also pledged to continue the state’s development initiatives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the winning BJP candidates in Nagaon, Nandigram and Rejinagar. In his post, he said the results reflected public support for the BJP-NDA’s governance agenda and praised party workers for their efforts.
Modi also congratulated the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC), an NDA ally, on its victory in the Thattanchavady Assembly by-election in Puducherry.
The Nagaon result marks a change in representation for the Lok Sabha constituency, where BJP’s Sharma defeated his rivals, with Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora finishing third.
