Guwahati-Bangkok Direct Flights to Begin October 7: Assam CM Announces

IndiGo will launch direct Guwahati-Bangkok flights from October 27, expanding Assam’s international air connectivity

Guwahati: Guwahati will get a direct air connection with Bangkok from October 27, with IndiGo set to begin flights between the two cities, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday, August 28.

The Chief Minister shared the development on X, saying the new international connection would provide another gateway to Southeast Asia and could strengthen tourism, trade and travel opportunities in the region.

The Bangkok route will add to Guwahati’s growing international connectivity. Direct flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi were launched earlier, expanding the range of overseas destinations accessible from Assam’s largest city.

The new service is expected to make travel to Thailand more convenient for passengers from Assam and other parts of the Northeast by reducing the need for connecting flights. The route could also facilitate travel for Thai visitors to Assam and other northeastern states, potentially supporting the region’s tourism sector.

The direct connection comes as Guwahati continues to emerge as an important aviation hub for the Northeast, with expanding international links aimed at improving regional connectivity and creating greater access to Southeast Asian markets.
