State Congress chief calls on party workers to stay at counting centres, highlights narrow margins and says final assessment will follow complete results

Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi expressed concern over early trends in the Assam Assembly elections, which indicate the Bharatiya Janata Party moving towards victory. Reacting to the developments, the state Congress chief said the party’s expectations have not been met so far.
“We are not satisfied with the current trends in Assam, as they do not reflect what we had anticipated,” Gogoi stated. However, he emphasised that the counting process is still underway and cautioned against drawing premature conclusions.
Importantly, he urged all party representatives, candidates, and workers to remain fully alert until the final votes are counted. “Everyone must stay present at the counting centres. In many constituencies, the margins are extremely narrow, whether we are leading or trailing,” he added.
Furthermore, Gogoi made it clear that the party will take a measured approach once the complete results are declared. He said the Congress will conduct a detailed review of the outcome and hold discussions not only within the party but also with the people of Assam and the central leadership.
Consequently, his remarks underline both caution and preparedness as the electoral picture continues to evolve.
