Security tightened across Delhi as CJP supporters march towards Parliament over NEET reforms, while Union Minister JP Nadda agrees to hold talks with protest representatives
New Delhi: The Centre on Monday opened a dialogue with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) as the outfit’s planned ‘Chalo Parliament’ march over the alleged NEET paper leak triggered police action and heightened security across central Delhi.
CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the government had reached out for discussions, adding that he and fellow spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka were on their way to meet Union Minister J.P. Nadda. “The government had reached out for talks in the morning. Our demands are clear,” Das said in a post on X.
The development came as thousands of supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar to march towards Parliament, demanding accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest coincided with the opening day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Security was tightened across central Delhi, with prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in force. Delhi Metro temporarily closed five stations, including Janpath and Central Secretariat, while internet services around Jantar Mantar were disrupted.
As protesters attempted to move towards Parliament Street, security personnel resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd. Samajwadi Party MPs, led by Dimple Yadav, also marched towards Jantar Mantar in support of the protesters.
