Family members and residents have appealed for immediate intervention after a 28-year-old disappeared while cutting grass near his home in Katigorah

Cachar: Tension gripped a border village in Assam’s Cachar district after a 28-year-old man disappeared under mysterious circumstances, prompting allegations of a possible cross-border abduction.
The missing man, identified as Ranjit Das, is a resident of Narsinghpur’s Rajtilak area under the Katigorah Assembly constituency. According to his family, Das had gone to cut grass near his home in the morning but failed to return.
As hours passed without any trace of him, relatives and villagers launched a search operation across the area. Amid the search, local residents alleged that Das may have been abducted and taken across the international border by Bangladeshi miscreants. However, the claim has not been officially confirmed, and authorities have yet to verify the allegations.
The incident has heightened concerns over security in the sensitive border region, with residents demanding urgent action to determine the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
Family members have appealed to the district administration and police to intensify search efforts and ensure Das’s safe return. Officials had not issued a formal statement on the incident at the time of filing this report, although an investigation is expected to be initiated.
The disappearance has sent shockwaves through the Katigorah border belt, with locals urging authorities to swiftly establish the facts and address growing concerns over safety along the frontier.
