Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says the digital system has automatically onboarded over 11,047 employees, with more than 3,970 receiving pension payment orders before retirement

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has highlighted the state government’s digital pension processing system, FinAssam, which initiates the process 12 months before an employee’s retirement to ensure timely disbursement of pension benefits.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said the system was designed to reduce paperwork, simplify verification and make the transition to retirement more convenient for government employees.
Under the system, retirement profiles are automatically created a year before superannuation, eliminating the need for manual applications. Employees are also not required to transport physical service registers to Guwahati. Instead, District-Level Standing Committees verify service records and pay fixations locally and issue digital Service Verification Certificates.
According to information shared by the Chief Minister, more than 11,047 employees have been automatically onboarded through FinAssam, while over 3,970 have received their Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) before their final working day.
The system also uses NICDSign 3.0 to authenticate pension proposals, with secure QR codes and documents accessible through DigiLocker. The initiative seeks to make pension processing more automated, paperless and efficient, particularly for employees scheduled to retire in 2026–27.
