Assam CM’s Son Nandil Completes Ironman Vietnam Challenge

Assam chief minister praises his son’s discipline and determination after he finished one of the world’s toughest endurance races following months of training

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed pride after his son, Nandil Sarma, successfully completed the Ironman Vietnam endurance event on May 10.

Widely regarded as one of the toughest single-day sporting challenges in the world, the Ironman requires participants to complete a 3.8-km swim, a 180-km cycling course and a full 42.2-km marathon consecutively.

According to the chief minister, Nandil, a fifth-year student at the National Law School of India University, completed the race in nearly 16 hours after preparing for only seven to eight months.

Sharing the achievement on social media, Sarma highlighted the immense physical and mental demands of the competition.

“The Ironman is widely regarded as one of the toughest endurance events in the world. It is a gruelling single-day test of stamina and determination,” he wrote.

“As a father, it fills me with immense pride to see his discipline, determination and perseverance. I wish him the very best for the journey ahead and for many more milestones in life,” the chief minister added.

The post quickly drew congratulatory messages online, with many praising Nandil’s dedication and commitment to completing the internationally recognised endurance challenge.
