Assam BJP To Felicitate 82 Newly Elected MLAs On May 26

Party to honour legislators, district presidents and grassroots workers after securing a third straight term in Assam

Guwahati: Following its decisive victory in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to host a large-scale felicitation programme for its 82 newly-elected MLAs in Guwahati on May 26.

The event will take place at the Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium from 6 pm and is expected to bring together senior party leaders, elected representatives and grassroots workers from across the state. Earlier in the day, the party will also hold an organisational meeting at the Sri Sri Damodardev Auditorium with district and mandal presidents to review the party’s electoral performance and future strategy.

According to BJP spokesperson Pranjal Kalita, the programme has been planned not only to honour the legislators but also to recognise the contribution of organisational leaders and booth-level workers who played a major role in the party’s third consecutive victory in Assam. The BJP will additionally felicitate leaders from all 39 organisational districts and 433 mandals during the event.

Kalita said nearly 65 lakh party members and around 72,000 active karyakartas worked across 31,486 polling booths during the election campaign. He also claimed that the BJP improved its vote share by nearly five per cent compared to the 2021 Assembly polls and secured close to 38 per cent of the total votes polled.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP state president Dilip Saikia and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal are expected to attend the programme.
