AIUDF chief attacks Assam CM and BJP candidate during campaign meeting as parties intensify Nagaon bypoll campaign

Nagaon: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal launched a sharp attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP candidate Devashish Sharma during an election campaign meeting at Shantijan Bazar in the Dhing Assembly constituency.
Referring to the Chief Minister’s reported remark about breaking the “backbone” of the Miya community, Ajmal made a personal remark about his weight. He said the CM weighs 80 kg while he weighs 100 kg, adding that if he climbed on the CM, “his backbone would break anyway”.
Furthermore, the AIUDF Chief also alleged that the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had referred to members of the Miya community as Bangladeshis and called him Pakistani.
Targeting BJP candidate Devashish Sharma, Ajmal said that if Sharma became an MP, he would “play songs in Parliament”, before making a threatening remark that he would “slap him once and throw him out”.
Ajmal is contesting the October 6 Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll against BJP’s Devashish Sharma and Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora. The seat fell vacant after former Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi resigned following his election to the Dispur Assembly constituency.
