Old Saraighat Bridge to Reopen Today After 2-Month Closure in Guwahati

The bridge will reopen to vehicular traffic at 12.30 pm on September 15 after repair and maintenance work by NF Railway

Guwahati: The old Saraighat Bridge in Guwahati will reopen to vehicular traffic at 12.30 pm on Tuesday, September 15, following the completion of repair and maintenance work.

The bridge remained closed from July 13 to September 15 as the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) carried out repairs on the railway bridge. The closure was announced on July 7, with commuters advised to use alternative routes during the repair period.

With the scheduled work now completed, vehicles will be allowed to resume movement across the old Saraighat Bridge from 12.30 pm, bringing relief to commuters who have relied on alternative routes for more than two months.

The reopening is expected to ease traffic movement in and around Guwahati, particularly for commuters travelling across the Brahmaputra.
