Guwahati: The Assam State Drivers’ Union has announced a special transport initiative to facilitate the movement of people attending the memorial programme for late singer Zubeen Garg at Zubeen Kshetra on September 19.
Under the initiative, members of the Assam Commercial Drivers’ Association and registered drivers will provide cab services to visitors at minimum fares on the day of the programme.
The union said the initiative was launched as a mark of respect for Zubeen Garg and aims to make transportation more accessible for mourners and others travelling to the venue.
The union has appealed to attendees to use the cab facility while travelling to Zubeen Kshetra on September 19. It also said the arrangement would help ease transportation difficulties for people seeking to attend the programme and pay their respects to the late singer.
The initiative comes as preparations continue for the memorial programme, which is expected to draw people from across Assam to commemorate Zubeen Garg’s life and legacy.
