COLTE aims to train 400 unemployed youth annually and connect them with employment opportunities in India’s growing logistics sector
Dimapur: Nagaland inaugurated its first dedicated logistics training centre, aimed at equipping unemployed youth with industry-ready skills and connecting them with jobs in the rapidly expanding logistics sector.
The Centre of Logistics Training for Excellence (COLTE), located at the Nagaland Integrated Hub for Skills at Kushibill, Dimapur, was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister T. R. Zeliang.
Zeliang highlighted Dimapur’s road, rail and air connectivity and said Nagaland was strategically positioned to benefit from the Northeast’s growing role as a gateway to Southeast Asia under the Act East Policy.
The Deputy CM further said that more than 71,000 people are registered with Employment Exchanges in Nagaland, while 92 per cent lack formal technical or vocational training.
Advisor Moatoshi Longkumer said COLTE would provide practical training, industry visits, upskilling and reskilling programmes, along with placement assistance.
The centre plans to train around 400 economically weaker unemployed youth annually, with women accounting for at least 20 per cent of trainees. Entry-level salaries are expected to range between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh annually.
An MoU was also exchanged with Zipaworld Innovation Pvt. Ltd. to facilitate international placement opportunities.
