Guwahati: Education Minister Ranoj Pegu marked Teachers’ Day with a state-level programme at the Sri Sri Damodar Deb International Theatrical Convergence at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, where meritorious teachers, educational institutions and researchers were felicitated for their contributions.
As part of the programme, 15 meritorious teachers nominated for the State-level Best Teacher Award were honoured for their contribution to education. The government also felicitated 12 colleges that received autonomous status from the University Grants Commission during the current academic year.
Recognition was also conferred on 14 affiliated NCI subjects, four teachers who obtained patents under the Directorate of Technical Education and five teachers under the Ideal School Organisation, Assam.
Pegu extended his congratulations and best wishes to the awardees, educators, institutions and researchers. He said teachers remain central not only to students’ lives but also to building a healthy, educated and value-oriented society.
The Minister further called upon teachers to embrace the educational vision and skills required in the 21st century and urged them to continue maintaining high standards of education in Assam.
The state-level celebrations underscored the government’s focus on recognising educators while strengthening institutional autonomy, innovation and academic excellence across Assam.
