India finished fourth with 39 medals in Glasgow before receiving the Commonwealth Games flag for the 2030 edition in Ahmedabad
New Delhi: India concluded its 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign in Glasgow with 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronzes, to finish fourth in the overall standings.
The Games concluded with Scotland handing over the Commonwealth Games flag and ceremonial baton to India ahead of the 2030 centenary edition in Ahmedabad. Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi received the flag during the closing ceremony.
Congratulating the contingent, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the athletes for their “exceptional skill, determination and dedication”. “Proud of our contingent’s performance at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Delighted that India has won 39 medals, including 13 Golds. Congrats to the medal winners,” he posted on X.
