The Arunachal Pradesh Congress protested Rahul Gandhi’s detention, demanding Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and action over examination irregularities
Itanagr: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Tuesday staged a protest outside Raj Bhavan in Itanagar, condemning the detention of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several senior party leaders by the Delhi Police.
Led by APCC president Bosiram Siram, the demonstrators accused the BJP-led Centre of using police action to suppress democratic dissent instead of addressing concerns over alleged examination irregularities.
“The BJP-led government has once again exposed its intolerance towards democratic dissent by using the police machinery to suppress the voice of the Opposition and intimidate students demanding justice,” Siram said.
The APCC demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging a failure to protect the integrity of the country’s examination system. The party also sought a detailed discussion in Parliament on recurring examination controversies and called for greater transparency and accountability in public examinations.
Additionally, the Congress urged the Centre to withdraw FIRs registered against students during the recent protests in Delhi and stop what it described as the harassment of peaceful demonstrators.
The APCC said it would continue to support students and raise issues concerning democratic rights through peaceful protests.
