Commercial LPG Prices Slashed by Rs 183.50: Domestic Cooking Gas Rates Unchanged

First reduction of the year brings relief to restaurants, hotels and commercial users, while household LPG prices remain unchanged

Guwahati: Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been reduced across India for the first time this year, with state-run oil marketing companies lowering the price of a 19-kg cylinder by Rs 183.50, effective July 1.

The latest revision is expected to provide significant relief to restaurants, hotels, caterers and other commercial establishments that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.

Following the price cut, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,930 in Delhi, Rs 3,089 in Kolkata, Rs 3,145.50 in Mumbai and Rs 3,303 in Chennai. Oil marketing companies revise LPG prices every month based on international fuel prices and prevailing market conditions.

The reduction comes after commercial LPG prices were increased in June due to supply concerns arising from geopolitical tensions in West Asia. With global crude oil prices easing in recent weeks, the companies have rolled back the earlier hike.

However, there has been no revision in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder. Household consumers will continue to pay the existing cooking gas rates, as domestic LPG prices remain unchanged this month.

The latest reduction is expected to lower operating costs for businesses in the hospitality and food service sectors, though it does not provide any immediate financial relief to domestic consumers.
