Yumnam Khemchand Singh met representatives of the Meitei Union Kangpokpi District and families affected by the ethnic unrest to discuss relief and rehabilitation measures

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on June 23 met a delegation of the Meitei Union Kangpokpi District, Manipur (MUKDM), along with families displaced by the ongoing ethnic unrest in the state.
The meeting was held at the State Secretariat, where the delegation sought immediate relief and rehabilitation measures for families from Kangpokpi district who continue to face challenges due to the prolonged conflict.
The delegation was led by Laishom Hemanta, Moirangthem Joy and Hirom Ningthem. Representatives highlighted issues related to rehabilitation, welfare and support for displaced families, urging the government to take urgent steps to address their concerns.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister listened to the grievances raised by the delegation and assured them that their demands would receive due consideration. “The concerns of the affected families will be addressed with due consideration,” Khemchand Singh said.
The Chief Minister further reiterated that the state government remains committed to the welfare, relief and rehabilitation of families affected by the unrest and is continuing efforts to provide necessary support to displaced persons.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of restoring normalcy and ensuring the well-being of those impacted by the violence. He said the government is working on measures aimed at improving living conditions and facilitating rehabilitation for affected communities.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the state administration to address humanitarian concerns arising from the ethnic conflict and strengthen support mechanisms for displaced families. The government has maintained that relief, rehabilitation and the restoration of peace remain key priorities as it continues engagement with affected communities across Manipur.
