Lalduhoma Takes Charge of Mizoram’s Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department

The portfolio has been transferred from Cabinet Minister K. Sapdanga to the Chief Minister as part of a move aimed at strengthening governance and administrative efficiency

Aizwal: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has taken direct control of the state’s Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department following a fresh reallocation of responsibilities within the government.

The change was formalised through a notification issued by the Political and Cabinet Department and came into effect immediately. Until now, the department was overseen by Cabinet Minister K. Sapdanga, who will continue to handle key portfolios, including Home Affairs, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation.

Officials said the decision was taken to enhance administrative effectiveness and improve governance outcomes. According to the notification, bringing the department under the Chief Minister’s direct supervision is intended to serve public interest and strengthen the functioning of the state administration.

The department is responsible for personnel management, administrative policies, institutional reforms and matters related to government services. As a result, Lalduhoma will now directly oversee initiatives concerning administrative modernisation, accountability and policy implementation.

The move is being viewed as a significant administrative adjustment within the government. Observers believe that placing the department under the Chief Minister’s charge could facilitate quicker decision-making and improve coordination across departments.

The latest portfolio reshuffle reflects the government’s broader focus on improving governance systems and ensuring more efficient delivery of public services across Mizoram.
