The Prime Minister said the PM-Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is connecting young job seekers with industry while expanding employment opportunities and social security coverage
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released Rs 2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), describing the initiative as a major step towards strengthening employment generation and workforce participation across the country.
Addressing a gathering in New Delhi, Modi said the scheme has already supported the creation of 15 lakh jobs, while nearly 70 lakh employment opportunities have been generated since its launch.
“The aspirations, skills and potential of India’s youth will shape the journey towards Viksit Bharat,” the Prime Minister said. He added that countries investing in talent, innovation and quality would lead the global economy in the 21st century.
According to the government, around 20 lakh young people have completed six months in their new jobs under the scheme, and nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries have already received incentive payments directly in their bank accounts.
Designed to encourage formal employment, the programme offers first-time employees an incentive of up to Rs 15,000. Meanwhile, employers hiring additional workers can receive incentives of up to Rs 3,000 per month per employee, promoting sustained job creation.
Earlier, Modi interacted with young beneficiaries at Vigyan Bhawan. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the government’s labour reforms and employment initiatives are aimed at strengthening worker welfare and expanding economic opportunities.
