Basistha Police launch investigation after four students from the same school fail to return home; families appeal for information
Guwahati: A search operation is underway in Guwahati after four schoolgirls from the city’s Basistha area were reported missing, prompting concern among families and local residents.
The missing students have been identified as Nirupai Ray, Ayushree Singh, Jilmil Daimary and Rumi Baruah, all residents of Beharbari and students of Beltola Majhipara Middle English School.
According to family members, the girls left their homes at around 8 am on June 1 to attend classes. However, concern grew when they failed to return home after school hours.
Relatives initially conducted searches on their own and contacted friends, acquaintances and local residents in an effort to trace the students. When these efforts yielded no results, the families approached Basistha Police Station and lodged a formal complaint.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and began efforts to locate the four girls. Officials are currently examining all available leads and gathering information regarding their movements before they went missing.
The case has attracted significant attention as all four students, who study at the same institution, disappeared on the same day under similar circumstances.
Police have urged members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation. Meanwhile, anxious family members continue to await updates as search efforts remain ongoing.
