Anurag Saikia Signs Landmark Global Publishing Deal with Warner Chappell Music

The Assamese composer behind Panchayat and Mismatched music becomes one of the first Indian artists to partner with the global publishing giant after its India expansion

Guwahati: Anurag Saikia has signed a major global publishing agreement with Warner Chappell Music, marking a significant moment for Indian composers working across films, OTT platforms and independent music.

Under the deal, Warner Chappell Music (WCM) will manage Saikia’s existing catalogue as well as his future compositions across major international markets, opening new opportunities in film, television and mainstream global music.

Saikia is widely recognised for composing the soundtrack of the hit TVF series Panchayat, including the popular track Paheli. He also created Ishq Hai, one of the breakout songs from the third season of Mismatched in 2024.

Beyond OTT projects, his work includes acclaimed films such as Thappad and Article 15. His experimental 2019 project, Project Borgeet, featured traditional Assamese devotional music arranged with an 85-piece Macedonian orchestra and a Shillong-based choir.

“This partnership is a significant moment not just for me, but for Indian music as a whole,” Saikia said, adding that he hopes the collaboration helps more Indian artists gain international recognition.

The deal follows WCM’s recent launch of direct operations in India and Saikia’s participation in the company’s 2025 songwriting camp in Las Vegas.
