The TVK chief was sworn in at Chennai’s Nehru Stadium along with nine ministers after securing the support of 120 MLAs in the Assembly.

Chennai: After days of intense political negotiations and uncertainty over government formation, actor-turned-politician Vijay on Sunday officially took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking a major shift in the state’s political landscape.
Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 51-year-old leader at a grand ceremony held at Chennai’s Nehru Stadium. Alongside Vijay, nine ministers from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) were also inducted into the cabinet.
Senior party leaders, including ‘Bussy’ N Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, KA Sengottaiyan, P Venkataramanan, R Nirmalkumar, Rajmohan and Dr TK Prabhu, took oath as ministers in the new government.

Addressing supporters after the ceremony, Vijay thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for placing their faith in him. Calling himself a “common man,” he urged citizens to work together for a “new era of governance” focused on development and public welfare.
The swearing-in ceremony drew several prominent political leaders from across the country. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attended the event, underlining the national attention surrounding Vijay’s rise in politics.
Soon after the ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Vijay and wished him success in his tenure. He also assured cooperation between the Centre and the Tamil Nadu government for the state’s progress and welfare.
